What is the National Education Association?
The NEA is America's oldest and largest organization committed to advancing the cause of public education. Founded in 1857 in Philadelphia and now headquartered in Washington, D.C., the NEA proudly claims over 3.2 million members who work at every level of education. The NEA has affiliates in every state as well as in over 13,000 local communities across the United States.
 
The Membership Breakdown
 

The demographic composition of the NEA's membership of 3.2 million educators and support personnel makes it an attractive target group for most marketers. 

Around 70% of the membership are married; the average age is 46. Women make up more than 70% of the group, and more than 80% have children. The average household income is $75,000, and two-thirds are homeowners.
